Another week begins

The Yankees have given in and will start super prospect Phillip Hughes on Thursday. Though Cashman clearly would have preferred to keep Hughes in the minors, the team has realized that starting a group that looks more like a Devil Rays staff is not a good idea.

As Hughes arrives we bid adieu to Chase Wright who gave us the great memory of back to back to back to back moonshots on Sunday Night Baseball at Fenway Park.

Mark Teixeira continues to struggle with 0 HR, 3 RBI and a .224 BA to this point. Tex, who followed up a disappointing first half with a monster second half in 06, was a chic pic to rebound to his 2005 numbers. Right now that is looking highly unlikely - at this point it looks like he will be hard pressed to meet his BP 50% forecast of .288/.371-32-104.

Alex Gordon hit his second HR over the weekend but the next “ARod” continues to struggle with a pitiful .133 BA and 4 RBI. He probably wont reach the 25 HR and 85 RBI expected off him , more like 18-20 HR and 65-75 RBI. If he ever gets on base we might see his base running ability. Buy low in yearly leagues.

It is just a matter of time before the ancient Tom Gordon hands over the closer role to Brett Myers; if you have Gordon and not Myers you better start looking for a closer.

After a slow start Mark Teahen has started to come around; he might even be a FA in your league, pick him up if that is the case.

Jimmy Rollins is a top-flight SS and off to an incredible start, but I find it hard to believe he can do more than match last seasons 25 HRs. If someone makes you an insane offer jump on it.
